About me

General Background

I was born in 1994 in Texas. I am the middle child of three. In the company of my parents and two brothers, I visited a variety of countries, living in three of them on multiple occasions; the United States, Canada and the Netherlands. These many moves resulted in me learning multiple languages throughout my youth and mastering them in adulthood.

Eventually we settled and stayed in the north of the Netherlands. Here I completed my high school education and went to a university of applied sciences. I got a bachelor’s in business with a specialty in sustainability. Ever since, I have been unsuccessfully job hunting. Since that isn’t going well, I decided to set my sights on writing seriously.

My Writing Journey

My love for books sprouted when I discovered how to use words. I’d staple paper together and write stories in them (much of it misspelled) and drew accompanying pictures. I eventually had a cardboard box, tucked behind the couch in the living room, filled with these little books. My parents encouraged my creative endeavors.

As the years progressed and my spelling and vocabulary grew, I began to write more extensively. I still drew accompanying pictures, but I was more focused on words. The stories weren’t great, of course, but I honed my ability even then.

In middle school in the United States, I met an English teacher who assigned story writing assignments very regularly. This encouraged me to practice my writing in English. Ever since that year, I never truly stopped. My first long-form story was full of tropes and plagiarized from franchises I liked. But I loved venturing into that world and writing endlessly. I had countless notebooks full of this story.

A few years after starting this long-form story, my mother got a laptop. She encouraged me to transfer the story to her laptop in a document. It felt good to type out and correct things as I went. I often asked if I could borrow her laptop. When we made our final move back to the Netherlands, my notebooks were boxed up and on a ship. So, I free wrote; using my mother’s laptop with her permission.

At 15, I got my first laptop of my own. My writing took off since I had unlimited access. I wrote stories, poems, songs and books. I took part in NaNoWriMo, back when that was still a popular thing. I had many novels written out, start to finish.

Now, in my 30s, I think it’s time to seriously offer my imagination to the world. The long-form story where it all started with, has gone through so many alterations that it is a completely different story. Its spirit remains, however, and it still inspires me all these years later. So it, and many other stories, I intend to send out into the world.
